Manzanilla Solear from Bodegas Barbadillo gained Gold Medal in the latest edition of an annual competition held by the Female Friends of Wine Association (AMAVI.) Eva Cream, also from Bodegas Barbadillo, was also recognised with a well-deserved Silver Medal.
AMAVI awarded the prizes at a dynamic event, which was held at the Hotel Puerta America in Madrid. The ceremony has become an important meeting for some of the most prestigious winery owners, journalists, oenologists, sommeliers and cultural personalities, who are always keen to accept a coveted invitation from the association’s president, Sonia Prince of Galimberti. Manzanilla Solear and Eva Cream received their prizes at a ceremony which served to extol the virtues of 26 wines across seven categories (unoaked white, oak-aged white, rosé, unoaked red, oak-aged red, sparkling and fortified.) In addition, special awards were given to the actor Jaun Echanove and to the journalist Lorenzo Díaz, both of which were handed over by Spanish actress, Ana Obregón.
