Principio Moristel
Product description
‘Principio Moristel’ has been produced from one of the most traditional grapes in the autonomous community of Aragon. Wine produced from 100% autochthonous Moristel grapes from the Somontano region.
Principio Moristel is a young red wine from 2024 (Limited Edition of 20,000 bottles) made from 100% Moristel grapes. This wine is the result of Bodega Pirineos’ commitment to traditional viticulture, using grapes sourced from the vineyards of the Cooperativa Comarcal del Somontano de Sobrarbe.
The Moristel Grape: A Safeguarded Native Treasure
Bodega Pirineos has played a key role in preserving Moristel, a variety that adapts excellently to the mountain terroirs. The winery currently owns 25 hectares of this variety out of the nearly 50 hectares remaining in the D.O. (Denominación de Origen). This leadership began with a cloning project in the 2000s to guarantee the survival of the variety.
